01 — Case study

B2B Design System

Six years in production across roughly fifty client deployments, without a rewrite. Built essentially solo, from a business case I had to make first.

Indicator Card Redesign

Indicators are one of the two pillars this product stands on, and there are 204 ways to configure and display one. Two things were wrong: nothing on the card read first, so nobody could see where they stood at a glance; and the layout gave a main indicator no more weight than a secondary one — on the dashboard and in the configuration screens alike.

Prize Challenge Redesign

Sales reps competed for real money, and the screen that told them how they were doing was the most complained-about page in the product. Every type of prize had been drawn its own way, the numbers never said what they counted, and people who were leading their ranking had their points locked by conditions nobody had explained.

Retiring shadows

The design system ran on an old, heavily customised Material, and it had inherited Material's idea that depth means elevation. Every surface in a dense B2B dashboard was separated from every other by a drop shadow. This is the epic that replaced all of it with tonal structure, on a live product, without changing what a single screen does.

Branded neutrals, without breaking contrast

Every client of a white-label product picks a brand colour. This is what happened when I tried to make the greys carry it too, and the instrument I ended up building to prove it was safe.

A design system that checks itself

A self-initiated concept. Seventy-five components in two themes, with contrast, vocabulary and bundle size enforced by the build. I directed it, Claude Code wrote the code, and it took six weeks.

148 contrast pairs the build refuses to fail

What I bring

  • Design systems at production scale
  • A designer who reads and reviews the code
  • An AI-native workflow, used on real products

Most candidates show one of these. The work above shows all three.
